Tax Credits and Incentives

Superbonus 70%

The Superbonus consists of fixed tax deductions (70% for 2024) of the expenses incurred for the installation of photovoltaic systems connected to the grid for multi-family buildings, with relative storage solutions that might be installed on the subsidized system at the same time or at a later date.

Renovation tax deduction of 50%

The 50% renovation tax deduction  is a 50% IRPEF fiscal detraction for up to a maximum eligible expenditure of 96,000 euros. It is granted for expenses under the legislation for works considered  building renovations on residential properties, either owned or rented, and includes the installation of photovoltaic panels on roofs, balconies or facades, and their storage systems. The deduction is divided in 10 annual installments of the same amount.

Reduced VAT

A reduction of 10% on the value-added-tax is applied on deliveries and services related to photovoltaic systems, parts and components.

The financial savings of a solar energy system depends on many factors and is complex to predict over its lifetime, but it is possible to provide a calculated estimate.

Which panels to use? Choosing the best type of solar panel as well as the system’s design are important to maximize efficiency. How much energy does the system produce? There is software that can predict energy production by the hour for an entire year. An important factor to consider when calculating solar output is the building's energy usage. Ideally, it is best to have a detailed consumption profile, but if this isn’t available, electricity bills offer useful pointers.

 

When is the installation profitable? When the actual price of energy consumed is less than what you pay on your utility bill. To calculate this, we need the cost of the equipment and installation for the PV system, the annual production, and the percentage of energy self-consumed.

Self-consumption means that homes or businesses generate a percentage of their own power. A residential system without energy storage achieves 30-50% self-consumption, however it can reach 70-80% with a large storage size. Excess energy is fed into the grid and sold at market price.
